Management
Jean-Claude CHARLIER, General Manager
Jean-Claude Charlier built up BeamExpress as CEO from June 2002 till September 2005, when he transformed BeamExpress Inc. from a VCSEL technology
spin-off from EPFL into a world-class transceiver manufacturer in the Silicon Valley and secured three run of financing. In July 2006 he took over the
VCSEL operation in Lausanne after its spin-off from BeamExpress Inc. Prior to BeamExpress Jean-Claude held several executive positions in
Sales & Marketing with the Semiconductor division of Agilent Technologies and Hewlett-Packard bringing direct industry and management experience in the
field of semiconductors.
Charlier holds a M.S. degree in electronic engineering and executive education from INSEAD (France) and IMD (Switzerland).
Eli KAPON, Founder and Chief Scientist
Prof. Eli Kapon has over twenty-five years experience in research and development in the areas of optoelectronics and nanotechnology.
He worked at CaltechCalifornia on diode laser arrays and later at Bellcore, New Jersey, on integrated optoelectronics and semiconductor nanostructures.
After serving at Bellcore he became Professor of Physics of Nanostructures at EPFL (the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland)
where one of the research projects served as the seed for establishing BeamExpress. He is the author or coauthor of numerous publications and several
patents. He earned a Ph.D. in Physics from Tel Aviv University, Israel. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, the IEEE and the Optical
Society of America.
