Jean-Claude CHARLIER, CEO
Jean-Claude Charlier built up BeamExpress as CEO from June 2002 till September 2005, when he transformed BeamExpress Inc. from a VCSEL technology spin-off from EPFL into a world-class transceiver manufacturer in the Silicon Valley and secured three run of financing. In July 2006 he took over the VCSEL operation in Lausanne after its spin-off from BeamExpress Inc. Prior to BeamExpress Jean-Claude held several executive positions in Sales & Marketing with the Semiconductor division of Agilent Technologies and Hewlett-Packard bringing direct industry and management experience in the field of semiconductors.
Charlier holds a M.S. degree in electronic engineering and executive education from INSEAD (France) and IMD (Switzerland).

Eli KAPON, Founder and Chief Scientist
Prof. Eli Kapon has over twenty-five years experience in research and development in the areas of optoelectronics and nanotechnology. He worked at CaltechCalifornia on diode laser arrays and later at Bellcore, New Jersey, on integrated optoelectronics and semiconductor nanostructures. After serving at Bellcore he became Professor of Physics of Nanostructures at EPFL (the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland) where one of the research projects served as the seed for establishing BeamExpress. He is the author or coauthor of numerous publications and several patents. He earned a Ph.D. in Physics from Tel Aviv University, Israel. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, the IEEE and the Optical Society of America.

Peter BORDUI, Chairman of the Board Peter Bordui has been chairman of BeamExpress since June 2010. He is also currently chairman of Media-Lario, a Luxembourg-based developer of reflective optics for application in semiconductor photolithography. He additionally serves as a director of Polytech Ventures, a Swiss seed-capital investment fund. In the past ten years, he has served as director or chairman of a number of public and private technology companies in Europe and the US, including an extended role as chairman of fibre-optic component-maker Bookham (now Oclaro). He previously worked in executive management of technology business, having served as Vice President and General Manager within both Siemens Corporation and JDSU, Inc. He started his career in research and development of electronic materials and holds six patents in the field. He did university studies at MIT, where he earned bachelor’s, master’s and PhD degrees from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering
