Long Wavelength VCSEL
Beam Express long wavelength VCSELs (1310nm and 1550nm) are fabricated using a unique proprietary localized wafer fabrication fusion technology. This enables independent optimization and utilization of both GaAs and InP materials in a reliable, low cost manufacturing process. The technology was originally developed at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) in Lausanne, and is exclusively licensed to Beam Express.
Higher single mode output power at long wavelengths
- Broad range of emission wavelengths: 1200nm < λ < 1900nm
- Low threshold current (< 3mA) and operating voltage (<2.5V)
- High reliability at high Temp. of 70°C- 90°C
- Polarization controlled emission
Typical Applications include:
- Fiber optic data links at data rates of up to 10 Gbps.
- Optical storage
- Fiber to the Home/Curb
- Gas sensing spectrometry
- Monolithic arrays for industrial and military applications
